Here is a little article I've just had published in an Edinburgh Magazine - enjoy!
Happy, Healthy New Year!
When most people think of New Year they often think of hard-core dieting and detox regimes. In fact January really isn’t the best time to start detoxing, you are far better to wait until spring before embarking on a detox programme. Why not start 2010 by making a few simple changes to the way you eat and drink that will build over the year into really positive changes to your health.
Start one at a time, adding another as new habits begin to stick and in no time at all you’ll be on your way to a far healthier 2010.
1. SPROUTS AREN’T JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
Sprouts and green leafy vegetables are fantastic for the liver – especially useful after a busy party season!
2. BIN THAT BREAD (especially the white stuff)
For a lot of people avoiding wheat can make a huge difference to their waistline as well as helping issues such as bloating and fatigue after lunch. Why not try other more complex carbohydrates such as oatcakes for a tasty alternative.
3. GET THE SOUP POT OUT
Homemade soup offers us an easy, hearty and healthy alternative to shop bought lunches. It’s a fantastic way to easily get in a few portions of veggies and is another slimming friend, helps save money too – simply invest in a flask if you can’t heat it at work.
4. DRINK WATER
This is often said but it really is so important! Water is not just about hydration it’s about helping flush out the toxins we make and take in every day. It’s also a good idea to be careful of caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as they both dehydrate requiring even more water for our bodies to process them – if you are not keen on drinking plain water why not try hot water with a slice of lemon.
5. GET COOKING!
Make your number one resolution to ditch ready meals and the microwave and start making real food again – don’t worry if you are not a brilliant cook as simple soups, stews and curries all make fantastic winter warmers that are tasty, hearty and nutritious. Check out websites for recipe ideas.
Note – always seek advice from your doctor or Nutritional therapist if you have existing health concerns, or take medication, before making any changes.

Moving house need not be stressful!
Just moved into my new house but with some careful planning we're still managing healthy eating despite everything being in chaos and no implements, crockery, pans etc.!
Tonight we had Chicken, Veg and Pasta so ticked all the boxes of Protein, slow release carbohydrates and excellent nutrients. Some thought before you leave and common sense as to what you buy, don't rely on having a fridge or wonderful cooking facilities, will see you eating properly in your new abode.
And it takes the same amount of time to cook something sensible as it does to drive down to the local fast food outlet!

STV's Make me Happier
Wow, what a nervous night last night watching STV's brand new show "Make me Happier". My first time on terrestrial TV came about when the production team were looking for a series of experts to help Tommy Furay take hold of his life and get it back on track. A very enjoyable's afternoon filming saw Tommy become a first rate patient and it was good to see he went straight home and made the family one of the meals I had suggested!
Well done to Lorraine Kelly for creating such a fantastic show and addressing many important issues. And fantastic to see Tommy looking so well at the end of the show and obviously benefiting from the changes he has introduced into his life.
You can see the programme by clicking here, my section is at the beginning of part two, and there is some more information and my top five tips for the show here.

I was choosen as one of the consultants for the series so keep an eye out for me working with Tommy Furay and assisting in making him much much Happier!
Many thanks to my Webmaster Lynne for working above and beyond in the battle to get on line, fabulous job.
